It's Madness!!

Cade and I counted ourselves lucky to be able to crash the party at the Super Man Cave (aka Coach Lamar's basement transformed by Matt and Adam).

Kinda hard to see, but on the far right there is a fourth screen being projected onto the wall so they could watch all games at once.

Keeping this little guy coralled was no small task.





How come everyone else gets to watch the game?

We soaked up our last few glorious moments of Spring Break with a trip to Heritage Park. Walking around the lake.

Ready to wrap up a LONG week after Spring Break! Hooray for the fourth quarter (picture me holding up four fingers in the air) but that also means it's sewing unit time again. Bless these kids for their enthusiasm to sew...but most of all bless me for teaching them.

One Classy Fellow

Today was a special day for us as we celebrated Cade's Baby Dedication at our church.

The Dedication time pretty much means we, as Cade's parents, dedicate our lives to raising Cade in an environment that will point him to Christ. It differs from a baptism as we believe Cade has to make that decision on his own when he can, but we (and our family and church congregation) are saying we will do everything possible to set Cade up for making the decision to follow Christ on his own. What an exciting journey and huge privilege God has entrusted us with by making us parents. It's a job that I'll never be perfect at, and I know I can't do it without the power and strength of Christ in me.

Grandpa Mike and Grandma Jan came to celebrate with us and even brought gifts!

Then, of course, a photo shoot was in order!

Spring Break is for...

...Traveling to the Bend. I'm pretty technology-free at the Bend. Hence no blogging...or communicating with the outside world.

...Wearing the same outfit over and over. Matt says, "How many days in a row are you going to wear that sweatshirt?"

...Shopping. If you're thinking Oak Park Mall or Legends than you've got the wrong idea. It's more like grocery store, Sam's Club and Babies-R-Us kind of shopping.

...Cleaning. Well Spring Break is wrapping up and really the only things on the To-Do list I haven't tackled are cleaning-related. So this one might as well be changed to "Tidying."

...and finally, cuddling with Cader. He's become my cuddle-bug. Which I'm totally fine with.

We were completely entertained watching he and his cousin, Lukas, interact while in GB.

The trip back to Olathe got a little long for Cade. We had to get creative with some make-shift pinata action.

We made it home before a complete melt-down occurred. This seems like the first trip to GB where Cade really noticed we weren't at home. He didn't sleep well at all. Now that we're home he slept until 11:00am (complete miracle!), took a nap, and was back in bed at normal 8:30 bedtime tonight.

Aside from all the cleaning I need to do (that I probably won't do) it's been a pretty relaxing Spring Break. I hate that I'm already talking like it's over...it's not over. May it never end!

10 Months!

New tricks this month...

Ta Da! No hands! He's very into transporting toys with him while he's on the go. Either by putting them in his mouth or trying to crawl while holding/pulling the item. It's pretty darn cute. See? And yes, in Cade's world, a water bottle definitely counts as a toy.

Photo shoot cut a little short this month for an intervention to the stuffy nose. Cade HATES having his boogs sucked out. "No more pics, Mom."

We're trying to offer more and more solids these days...normally keeps pretty clean...

Unless he doesn't like what's being offered. Then it's everywhere BUT in the mouth.

So far Cader is pretty picky and really only likes orange foods. I'm not ok with this and insist on trying other things. I won't have that freaky kid who only eats orange foods. But for now...I guess we'll deal. Bring on every version of sweet potatoes or apricots.

I read somewhere that kids develop better balance and coordination if you let them roam barefoot. And who doesn't love those chubby little feet?

Happy March! 5 days til Spring Break...but who's counting?!

Sicky Sickerson

We are sick around here. No fun. I haven't been sick like this in years. I started getting sick last night after Cade and I got home from the Mill Valley game. Cade was right there by my side so I kind of tried to barricade him with my body to keep him from grabbing the toilet while I got sick. Eventful. Luckily Cade went to sleep without a problem and I proceeded to throw up all night...17 times at least. Several foods joining my "do not eat" list for awhile. And boy am I glad I cleaned the bathrooms really well last week. Gave me peace of mind while I rested my cheek on the toilet...no, I'm not talking about the cheek that normally goes on toilets.
So no school for me today which leaves me with 2 sick days. How do people ever retire with hundreds saved up? I can't even make it a year without cashing them all in. I'm nervous having 3 months of school left and only 2 sick days. Just seems like a bad idea.
Cade also got sent home from the sitter at about 1pm today to join the Sicky Sickerson club. Poor Cader, he's having trouble at the other end.
Don't worry, Matt is taking good care of us sickies. He came home with Pedialyte, Gatorade, 7- Up and Saltines. We're on the mend. I'm starting to actually feel hungry and have been disinfecting everything in sight. Which reminds me, I better spray down this keyboard!
