Easter...two weeks later

Easter weekend does seem like it was awhile ago...but we're still eating our Easter candy around here so surely I'm still safely within the "blogging window."

The candy flowed plentifully this year so Cade and I are still chipping away at it. It's like a daily task that must be done. Heaven forbid I just throw it away. That wouldn't be right. And, if you know me, you know I would NEVER do that. I love candy way too much for that. I secretly hope it will last us until Halloween.

Family pic...Cade LOVED his tie. It velcroed in the back. He's classy like that.

Sisters photo shoot, a must

We enjoyed our time with both sides of the family, ate some yummy Easter dinners, and cashed in on some excellent Easter baskets! I'm never too old for an Easter basket...just so everyone knows.

My dad gave Cade some mounted horns for his room. Cade was pumped. At first I wasn't so pumped about the gift.

But they are growing on me.

We celebrated Easter Sunday at my parent's church and always love hearing Pastor Dave preach. He mentioned that too often we make light of very, very important things in life (like having a relationship with Jesus or the fact that Jesus DIED for our sins and ROSE AGAIN the 3rd day) and we spend our time and efforts making trivial things very important in life.

True 'dat. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Don't miss the boat on this one, people.

This holiday is about a whole lot more than just candy--and for that I'm very, very grateful.

Birthday Bash

We celebrated Reese's first birthday with a small bash at my parent's house over Easter weekend so all of the grandparents and aunts and uncles could be there. Unfortunately, all my pics are of the decorations or Reese eating her smash cake. Why did I not think to take pics of Reese and all of her guests?! I'm sorry. Someone should remind me next time. It was very special having everyone together, even if I have no photographic proof.

"A party--for me?!"

My talented friend, Erin Racer, made the cute smash cake and yummy cupcakes. And then there's my pride and joy--the high chair tutu. Much easier than it looks. I was afraid I might spend an embarrassing amount of time on it but it actually was very simple.

Reesie got lots of clothes and new, fun toys too.

"Let me at this cake!"

She is my child. We had to take it from her or she may have eaten the whole thing. No lie.

And she didn't want to stop!

We ended the party with an egg hunt in the back yard and some family fun enjoying the pretty day. A successful party--minus the forgetting to take pics with everyone. Thank you everyone for helping us celebrate our Sweet Reese!

Keep the fun going, click here for the entry about Cade's first birthday party.

When looking back for Cade's party entry I also found his birth story. I wasn't sure if I ever wrote about the details of it but now I realize I told it on the one year anniversary of us going to the hospital. Upon reading it again there were already several details I didn't remember! Good reason to have a blog, I suppose.

Why stop now, keep on clicking. Click here for Reesie's birth story also.

Spring Break Fun

I've been trying this new thing lately called going to bed early. I've been hitting the hay around 9:30pm the last couple weeks and while that does cut out a good 2-3 hours of normal productivity, I must say, I do feel more rested. I enjoy life more.

My house is not as tidy, my DVR is dangerously full, my blog entries are left hanging, and my laundry baskets overfloweth.

We all know these things can only be neglected for so long before one starts to go crazy. Perhaps I'll be knocking the bedtime back a bit this week in an effort to reach some sort of happy medium.

The question is, why am I so tired? Stop thinking it. I am not pregnant. I repeat: my eggo is not preggo. Please, heavens no.

Over Spring Break this year we just played it cool and hung around our house. Felt a lot like Christmas break with the chilly weather and snow! Reesie is mildly interested in toys and mostly content just to rearrange the cabinets.

We decided to take advantage of Toddler Bowling at Mission Bowl-Olathe since we were all available to do so. (Thank you Heine's for alerting us to this--we get 90% of our ideas for KC outings from them). Cade loved it for 5 seconds and hated it for half an hour. Eh, we'll try again sometime.

Sweet Reesie enjoying some of her birthday gifts on her actual birthday.

Believe it or not, these two monkeys create a lot of laundry.

Nothing overly eventful but just a fun time of togetherness. Of course, the countdown to summer is on. It will be like Spring Break--but warm!
