This is it...this weekend we're painting the baby's room and putting the rest of the furniture together so hopefully we can soon start to feel more ready. One dilemma...I can't decide on a color. Now I'm a pink person. I embrace being a girly girl. I've never really been into hearts or butterflies or anything, but pink, I like. So I always thought we'd have a pink room. Heck, we've got a blue sports-themed room for Cade so why not have a pink floral theme for Reese? We're cliche around here. It's fine. Our bedrooms are small so while I like a lot of color, I'm not really into fancy paint jobs or the use of multiple colors. Maybe I'm just lazy? Don't tell my kids.
I picked up a few too many test colors at Home Depot. I'm sure that in no way contributes to my inability to decide...
The first paint chip I picked up was called "Sexy Pink." I immediately returned it to the shelf. While I liked the color it just seems wrong to paint your baby's room a color containing the word "sexy." No? The next paint chip I liked was "Pink Carnation." Perfect. Pink carnations happen to be the official flower of Gamma Phi Beta. Fate?
Pink carnation test-run
I'm pretty clueless when it come to testing out paint. How much should I paint? Which wall should I paint? How many coats should I use? I'm just not sure that the test-runs even help me make a decision at all. I like it. But is it TOO pink?
Here's a close-up of my favorite print of the bedding, the bumpers. (Which, yes, I know they're not even necessary but they're my favorite print of the bedding!)
I keep coming back to the aqua/robin's egg blue shades in it. I just love the thought of a room that color with lots (and lots) of pink accents. I'm just having trouble finding that color...and visualizing what it will look like.
I know, the nasty gold curtains kind of detract from the task at hand.
While the pics from the Pottery Barn website are, I'm sure, designed to inspire...they somehow leave me just feeling bad about the fact that our room won't ever look as cute as their "inspiration" rooms.
So...I'll sleep on it...pics of the final product coming next week! I'm sure it will turn out fine. We'll end up with a cute and functional room that will be just perfect for our little Reese!
