Support The Troops!

The Girl Scout Troops, that is! It's that blessed time of year again. Girl Scout Cookie time. I love it. And yet this year, I may have gone a little overboard. I just CANNOT say no when a little kid takes the initiative to come to my door to sell something. Especially if it's something I like...like food! Hey, I'm a pregnant lady, remember?
Weeks ago, a neighborhood girl stops by, I buy 4 boxes. Excellent. Next, one of my favorite students at school asks me. Gotta support her. 2 boxes. Cutest little "Daisy" scout (or whatever...I think they used to be called Brownies when I was in it...I see why they are going by a new name) came to the door WITH A SCRIPT! It was too cute. "My name is Allison...and I am a...Daisy Scout. We are selling cookies...would you like to buy some?" Um, yes please. And then I bought from a few more students. Yes, I'm a fat kid at heart, in a pregnant lady's body. Is it bad if you open up your desk drawer and there are 4 boxes of cookies in there? I love this time of year!

Week 24

Entering week 24, looking pretty darn big and feeling little kicks and punches now from the inside and the outside which is very fun. This turtle neck top is obviously not a maternity top so it really accentuates how much Baby K is sticking out in the front. I know, Mom, I need to switch to more maternity tops, but when I layer up with a vest or jacket like I usually do, I feel like it's okay. I only have about 5 actual maternity tops, but I will gradually invest in more I'm sure. I feel like it's way too early for my belly button to be flipping inside out and for me to be changing from the round to oblong shape already...but it's happening. The countdown clock says 117 days til the due date...sounds like a LONG time.

Looking for Inspiration

Now that I think of it, I have not made a single baby-related purchase since we found out we are having a boy. I've done a little bit of looking, but just haven't been struck by anything. I'm still looking for inspiration. I just like girl things better. I had big ideas for a girls room. Boys room? Nothing. I'm not really inspired by trains, planes, boats, jungle animals, or bears. And that's really all the themes I'm seeing out there. I like the idea of red and blue with a sports theme (primarily basketball, of course). I really love this from Pottery Barn kids.

But that doesn't really help for crib bedding. I could make some things, but I hate for it to end up really homemade-ish looking.

Now even though I haven't really found any baby boy stuff while shopping, our family and friends have been working hard to convince me that boy stuff can be cute by showering us with their super-cute finds. This is helping me get more used to the whole boy idea and even get excited about it!
Got the cutest card and onesie in the mail from Dedra the other day.

I'm pretty sure she made it because she's super fun and crafty like that. Sidenote here--Dedra is amazing. She's good at EVERYTHING. Runs the perfect household, great teacher, coach, mom--and a mom of boys--so definitely an inspiration to me! Tell us how you did this! SO CUTE! Everyone who sees it loves it! Thank you so much!

Matt's sister, Christy, came to visit us this weekend bearing gifts. I'm thinking this Prince Charming outfit would be a good hospital outfit. Maybe for his first picture?

And look at these hip plaid shorts and cool hoodie outfit?

Love all of these outfits! Baby K will be so stylish!

Aunt Gentry wanted to get her brainwashing started as well. Baby K is already SO LOVED by his many aunts!

I found this little guy on our bed the day of the ultrasound from my mom, which will always be a special keepsake.

And Peggy, one of my former cheerleaders and still close friend, is positioning herself for "aunt" status as well for Baby K.

So thanks to everyone who is already spoiling Baby K (and me)! Maybe by the time he's born I'll want to have boys only? Maybe? :)

Pants Predicament

This box arrived yesterday. I'd been awaiting its arrival. Yet I'm scared to open it. It holds pants...that I ordered online. Maternity pants. Jeans, black, khaki, and brown pants. Inside this box, is my only hope of having ANYTHING to wear to school next week and beyond. NOTHING fits. And so I'm scared that nothing in this box will fit either.
I've always had a hard time finding pants that fit me right. I have big thighs, junk in the trunk, and a proportionately small waist. So now that I'm pregnant (and my saddle bags have grown as much as my belly!) pants shopping has not been any happier. In fact, it has been worse! Because now I'm supposed to find pants that fit that come in sizes small, medium, and large? Geez, why not make them one size fits all? Seriously! And the under the belly, over the belly or just the really huge waist option? I don't know! How am I supposed to know how I'll need them to fit in a month? So anyway, back to the box. Since there's like NO variety in the stores, I've resorted to blindly shopping online. I guess I can return them and the search will continue if they don't fit. Or I'll wear tights and boots every single day. Or sweat pants?

Pizza & Mario Party

Snow days Wednesday through Friday make for an excellent week! It seems like there has been something each day that has prevented me from staying in my pjs ALL day long. Which is good I guess. Is it sad that I have to have somewhere to go or someone coming over to force me to shower and get ready on these days? Wednesday's reason for showering was that Matt held an impromptu pizza party for the team. We really enjoy having them over and, except for lack of parking, our house works out great for it!

Matt insisted on buying the Wii game "Mario Party" for this event. I wasn't sure about this decision as the roads were pretty bad and it seemed like they'd be fine playing our other Wii games. What's so special about Mario Party?

I haven't played yet, so I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I could tell they had a blast.

Ten "grown men" yelling and screaming at the TV over this game. And it's like it has its own language. They were yelling all sorts of crazy things that don't make sense if you're not playing the game about racing dolphins and candy in your pockets among other weird things.

Celebrating a victory.

Maybe sometime I'll get to have my 10 rowdiest friends over to play?

* AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP THROUGH THE REGION TONIGHT... WITH WINDS INCREASING TO BETWEEN 20 AND 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH POSSIBLE BY THURSDAY MORNING. THIS WILL CREATE SIGNIFICANT BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW WITH NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS POSSIBLE AT TIMES. VISIBILITIES WILL BE REDUCED TO BELOW ONE HALF MILE WITH ROADS BECOMING NEAR IMPASSIBLE... (From Weather.com)

Is it selfish to hope that this does happen so that I don't have to go to school tomorrow either?
