Basement Progress
The basement project has recently picked up some speed as we realize it's 75 days until we need to have Baby K's room all situated! Actually less than that. I'm putting an April 1st deadline on having it all finished. We're adding a TV area, a 3/4 bath and a 4th bedroom down in the basement so I'd like to shuffle the upstairs bedrooms so the guest room is downstairs, the current guest room becomes the computer room and the computer room becomes the baby's room. Lots to do. Funny how our crap alone can take up 3 bedrooms! But thanks to the help of many of our family members (who have much more expertise on these things than we do) we are progressing. It has been sheet-rocked and mudded and is actually starting to look like we're making some headway.

Udder Covers

So I ordered an "Udder Cover" the other day. This will be interesting...to say the least. I might be one of the biggest prudes I know. (I prefer to think of it as modest). Let's just say that I'd rather wear a turtle neck than a V-neck top any day, I've never shown cleavage in my life (really never had any til recently, I guess, but that's beside the point), and now I'm supposed to be all comfortable with myself and let only this thin and slightly see-through fabric of the Udder Cover be the only thing separating "me" from the world? I will NEVER be comfortable with nursing in front of people or with people in the vicinity even. Really. Never. Even with the magic Udder Cover it's not like people don't know what's going on under there. And it's not like they aren't thinking about it the ENTIRE time they are interacting with you. I know nursing is best. I want to nurse. But know that I'm nervous. And the arrival of this Udder Cover only makes it that much worse. Maybe breastfeeding class will help. Ha. It says to bring a doll with you to practice. Even the thought of pretending to press some doll up to my chest in this class makes my cheeks blush. Weird, weird, weird.
Heart Burn
If the old wives tales are true about heart burn during pregnancy and hairy babies...our little guy might come out looking like this...

Hopefully a blonde version at least. And, who am I kidding? Matt doesn't even have this much facial hair. Regardless of the end result of a hairy baby or not--let me tell you--it burns, it BURNS.

Don't Even Say The WORD!

Clearly, this is not my belly. But it does seem like a realistic estimate of what I may look like in 3 more months. 3 months to go. Seems so close...seems so far. When I look outside and see all the snow on the ground and realize it will be Spring, nearly Summer, when the baby arrives...it seems far off. But when you think in terms of days, 3 months, 90ish days...it seems so close!
So far, pretty much everything I read that is expected during pregnancy ends up happening to me. Runny nose, check! Heartburn, check. Back aches and leg cramps, check. Other things that are too gross to mention...check. However, there are 2 things that have not occurred. Two unpleasant things. Things that I fear will happen to me if mentioned...or even typed.
Stretch marks and hemorrhoids. Ahh! Please, please don't find me! Whenever Matt and I are reading through the "what to expect" lists when he gets to these "unmentionables" I say, "No--keep moving, don't even say the WORD!"
Chances are, I will not update you if either of these things do occur...but just know that so far, so good.

Support The Troops!

The Girl Scout Troops, that is! It's that blessed time of year again. Girl Scout Cookie time. I love it. And yet this year, I may have gone a little overboard. I just CANNOT say no when a little kid takes the initiative to come to my door to sell something. Especially if it's something I like...like food! Hey, I'm a pregnant lady, remember?
Weeks ago, a neighborhood girl stops by, I buy 4 boxes. Excellent. Next, one of my favorite students at school asks me. Gotta support her. 2 boxes. Cutest little "Daisy" scout (or whatever...I think they used to be called Brownies when I was in it...I see why they are going by a new name) came to the door WITH A SCRIPT! It was too cute. "My name is Allison...and I am a...Daisy Scout. We are selling cookies...would you like to buy some?" Um, yes please. And then I bought from a few more students. Yes, I'm a fat kid at heart, in a pregnant lady's body. Is it bad if you open up your desk drawer and there are 4 boxes of cookies in there? I love this time of year!

Week 24
Entering week 24, looking pretty darn big and feeling little kicks and punches now from the inside and the outside which is very fun. This turtle neck top is obviously not a maternity top so it really accentuates how much Baby K is sticking out in the front. I know, Mom, I need to switch to more maternity tops, but when I layer up with a vest or jacket like I usually do, I feel like it's okay. I only have about 5 actual maternity tops, but I will gradually invest in more I'm sure. I feel like it's way too early for my belly button to be flipping inside out and for me to be changing from the round to oblong shape already...but it's happening. The countdown clock says 117 days til the due date...sounds like a LONG time.

Looking for Inspiration
Now that I think of it, I have not made a single baby-related purchase since we found out we are having a boy. I've done a little bit of looking, but just haven't been struck by anything. I'm still looking for inspiration. I just like girl things better. I had big ideas for a girls room. Boys room? Nothing. I'm not really inspired by trains, planes, boats, jungle animals, or bears. And that's really all the themes I'm seeing out there. I like the idea of red and blue with a sports theme (primarily basketball, of course). I really love this from Pottery Barn kids.

But that doesn't really help for crib bedding. I could make some things, but I hate for it to end up really homemade-ish looking.
Now even though I haven't really found any baby boy stuff while shopping, our family and friends have been working hard to convince me that boy stuff can be cute by showering us with their super-cute finds. This is helping me get more used to the whole boy idea and even get excited about it!
Got the cutest card and onesie in the mail from Dedra the other day.

I'm pretty sure she made it because she's super fun and crafty like that. Sidenote here--Dedra is amazing. She's good at EVERYTHING. Runs the perfect household, great teacher, coach, mom--and a mom of boys--so definitely an inspiration to me! Tell us how you did this! SO CUTE! Everyone who sees it loves it! Thank you so much!
Matt's sister, Christy, came to visit us this weekend bearing gifts. I'm thinking this Prince Charming outfit would be a good hospital outfit. Maybe for his first picture?

And look at these hip plaid shorts and cool hoodie outfit?

Love all of these outfits! Baby K will be so stylish!
Aunt Gentry wanted to get her brainwashing started as well. Baby K is already SO LOVED by his many aunts!

I found this little guy on our bed the day of the ultrasound from my mom, which will always be a special keepsake.

And Peggy, one of my former cheerleaders and still close friend, is positioning herself for "aunt" status as well for Baby K.

So thanks to everyone who is already spoiling Baby K (and me)! Maybe by the time he's born I'll want to have boys only? Maybe? :)
