This past weekend we packed away the first set of clothes that Cade has outgrown. Kind of sad. And yes, with a twist of irony, I found myself hoping that our next child is a boy too because this stuff is just too cute to not be worn again. In fact, I think I'd like to have all boys. Who'd have guessed?

On with the next phase...

Worst thing ever...
seriously. Ever. I've heard stories before of those moms who start to cry when their child gets their shots...and I've judged those moms. I have thought that they were crazy and perhaps a little too wrapped up in their child. I owe those moms an apology. Because now I know, you can never be too wrapped up in your child. And when my son got his 2 month shots...I cried. I had to fight hard to hold it together to keep it just at the watery eyes level because if I'd let my guard down I could have easily SOBBED and BAWLED (like a baby, pun intended). Cade was pretty tough. He didn't yell loud, he just looked more betrayed. Like he was saying, "Mom, how could you let this happen to me?!"
A couple of pics before the shots...he was SO happy that day. Just lying there all smiley (which of course is much too difficult to capture so these pics are more like the second AFTER he stopped smiling).

There are no "after shot" shots. I was too busy being too wrapped up in my child. Judge me if you want to. It's okay, because someday I bet you'll understand.

Caught
I came into Cade's room the other day in time to catch Matt attempting to cuddle with Cade...in Cade's crib. Hmmm...

And now for the rest of this post I should really rename the blog to Just Cade instead of Just Jana...but I doubt anyone will mind. :)
Throwing up some sort of sign? Hope we're not dealing with a future gansta here?

Just chillin at Emily and Josh's BBQ

Wiped after camp

Even though all he does at camp is sleep...

But that's fine because then I can get some work done...

Or he helps Dad pick up chicks?

Or has a staring contest with Dad

And finally, testing out our new sun hat. Ok, it's huge. And I'm not sure if we'll actually ever venture into the sun...but if we do we're ready!

Tell me why...
my grocery list is constant. How can I have to create a new list and add 3 items to it while unpacking my groceries from my last trip? Please tell me this happens to other people too!?! I must become more efficient.
I prefer to do my grocery shopping at Wal-Mart...check that...I prefer to shop at Dillon's but since there are none in the KC area, now I shop at Wal-Mart. Dillons was all I knew coming from Great Bend, America. They have double coupon days, they send you coupons in the mail for items that you like, they have Kroger brand of everything...it's a great place. Now I'm a Wal-Mart girl. I feel a little WT somehow admitting it, but it's true. I know it's much more hip and trendy to be a Target person, and I love getting some things at Target. But not for the weekly grocery shopping trips. There's a brand new Price Chopper just up the street, but no thank you. I think Price Choppers are a rip off. Cost compare with Wal-Mart and you'd be amazed. They act like they have great sales but it is all a facade. I have to grocery shop for the foods labs at school (sometimes I feel like I grocery shop for a living) and it must be done at Price Chopper because that's where our school account is. I feel bad wasting the school's money like that when I know I can get things cheaper elsewhere.
Wal-Mart it is. Haven't you seen the recent "Rollback" commercials with Darrell? C'mon, you can't tell me he's not convincing. :) The catch is, not just any Wal-Mart, only the newest Wal-Marts.
None that look like this for me.

Only ones that look similar to this.

In Olathe there's a sketchy Wal-Mart at 135th and Black Bob or there's the beautiful newer Wal-Mart on K7. Guess which one I live closer to. Now guess which one I go to. Yep. So it's a little out of the way...yet totally worth it. Nice shopping experience, and super cheap. I'm super cheap...check that...thrifty at heart. I was driving in Overland Park (near Stanley) the other day and saw a NEWER Wal-Mart...and I kinda got excited. I'll have to check it out soon. I can't decide if I should be worried that this is what my life is reduced to...or if I should be more worried that I totally don't care that this is what my life is reduced to?

Miss Jessica
Today Cade got to meet "Miss Jessica," a middle school math teacher turned Daycare Provider who will be taking care of Cade this school year.

She is fabulous and I have no worries about Cade going to her house...but you better believe that I'll be there picking him up ASAP after school gets out! I know I shouldn't think about it yet...but this will be SO hard...

New Kid on the Block
After just seven weeks, Cade is no longer the "New Kid on the Block." Our neighbors welcomed a new little boy this week, who is sure to be Cade's best friend. We wondered if we would know when they had the baby.

Let's just say, we know. But isn't this sign so neat? I've never seen anything like it! I guess you can rent it. Very cool! (Except that we live on a culdesac so I'm guessing only the people who live here have seen it...but it would be great to have for photos, right? And yes, I tried to hurry and felt a little weird walking out into the street, snapping a photo, and then running back into my house!)

Trip to GB
I made a list and checked it twice...and was scared as ever to make the nearly 4 hour trek to GB. In the end I had nothing to worry about. We remembered to pack everything we needed...and even some things we didn't. Also, Cade was a pretty good traveler. Phew.
It's always worth the trip to get to spend time with our families. We are SO lucky to have such great families. During our visit we:
Celebrated Matt's parents' 30th anniversary with a surprise party coordinated by Matt's sisters. Cade met lots of new people while sleeping through pretty much the entire event!

Got to meet Matt's cousin's baby girl, Khloe, at the party.

Attended a baby shower for Matt's sister, Cindy. She and Erin will be welcoming a baby boy cousin for Cade mid-July.

And of course, no weekend is complete without some sort of family photo shoot. :)

Keeley Clan

Cade also got to meet some very special ladies who love him very much!
Great Grandma Keeley

Great Grandma Sauder

MaKenzie also assisted with Cade's first bath in the kitchen sink at my parent's house. It doesn't seem like too long ago that we were bathing MaKenzie in that sink! Man, I'm old!

And of course, G-Mom spoils us rotten. Somehow Cade's grandma's can always get him to smile and smile like I've never seen before. They are pretty special!

I told Matt that I wish we lived a little closer to everyone in GB so as we traveled through every podunk town on the way home he asked if I'd rather live there so we could be closer. Of course not...I'm not ready to trade in all my Targets for an Alco or anything...I just wish KC was closer to GB. Can someone arrange that?
