The damage...the back of Dedra's car full of bags of wonderful new purchases!
Now comes the strange part...at the request of those readers who live far away, here are some pics of some of my new school outfits, as well as some shopping advice from a wanna-be fashionista (ME)!
I really feel like I've just gotten good at shopping as of late. Started picking out staple items that actually work well in my wardrobe. I'm still working on becoming as fashionable as my mom. She's always had the ability to put together outfits and accessories like no one else.
Now, don't get scared, not all of these pieces are new. I combined new pieces with things I already had to put on my "fashion show" after our shopping day. My wonderful husband, Matt, was kind enough to be my photographer.

These pants are getting altered as we speak. Tip #1: Get your pants altered if you need to. Buy/alter them with the intent of wearing them with flats only or with heels only. For "staple" items like black or khaki pants have a pair to wear with flats and a pair to wear with heels.
My mom is the queen of accessories too. I'm not so good at picking out the bargain accessories...but I knew when I bought this shirt that I wanted to find a necklace to match. Tip #2: If possible, buy outfits THEN accessories if they are specific colors. Don't buy random accessories or you'll never wear them. It's amazing what a difference a necklace & bracelet can make with an outfit. It's cheap to accessorize these days as well. Hit up Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, Wet Seal, etc for affordable pieces. Exception to buying random accessories is if you're building up your inventory. It's nice to have a necklace you can pretty much always wear with black, a piece to wear with browns, a silver, and a gold. When looking at more specific (colored) pieces, think of outfits you'll be able to wear it with.
Speaking of accessories...this outfit needs a thick brown belt over the top of the sweater I think.
Kinda a wild jacket/top...but I like it...has personality.
Couldn't decide on whether the red shoes is TOO MUCH red or not.
I love this jacket...it may be 1st day material. And it was on sale! Tip #3: Rarely pay full price. Some items are "splurge" items...some are not. If you can afford it, you'll get a lot of wear out of it, it's unique and you can't recreate it some where cheaper, then you can get it. Otherwise steal the idea and keep looking.
These pants are also getting altered, for flat shoes.
Trouser jeans to "casually" dress up & a new white shirt. Replace white shirts yearly, at least. Brown armpits are NOT cool.
I LOVE these running tops so I couldn't pass it up!
Thanks for tuning in for my fashion show and what (little) advice I have to offer!
Thanks Dedra & Jen for a great day of shopping! I shop much better with a "team!"
