Just one of those days

It was an eventful week. One of those that feels long but goes by quick at the same time. And let me tell you, Wednesday was totally just "one of those" days. When working with high school students, you must learn from your experiences, or they will eat you alive! Wednesday taught me 2 lessons and humbled me a lot.

Lesson #1: Always double-check your outfit WITH THE LIGHT ON before leaving the house. Upon arriving at school I discovered I was wearing one brown shoe and one black shoe. Yep, 2 different shoes. Seriously...who does that?!

Lesson #2: Listen to the students before freaking out on them...they may have a valid point. We're studying credit in Personal & Family Finance and the kids are really having trouble, well, caring about the subject. To make a long story short I goofed and made a copy of the wrong worksheet and assigned one that they had already done. They were freaking out and I nearly blew up at them for their poor attitudes and work ethic before realizing they were right...I messed up. Very humbling. They spent the rest of the week double-checking my outfits and questioning whether I gave out the right assignment. Hopefully they'll forget over the weekend?

Fellowship Bible Church

Since I mentioned the link in the last post, I thought I'd clarify the directions for listening to a sermon. The link should take you right to the page where you can listen, then you need to click on the right hand side in the Podcast list thing. The Easter Sermon was called Three Doors of Life. I'm not sure if it's just my computer...but it sounded like Pastor Joe was a chipmunk when I listened online. Just a warning...this is not what he normally sounds like. Try it out, even if you don't have time to listen to the whole thing (I encourage you to at some point though), atleast check to see if he sounds like a chipmunk?

Hoppy Easter!

He, he, he! I know, 2 posts in less than a month, what a miracle. Hopefully it's a sign that the pace of life is finally slowing down? Or that I'm finally seeing what a high priority blogging should be in my life? (Okay, not that one). Just thought I'd post some Easter/Spring Break photos. It was a relaxing break filled with lots of people I love!

Here's Papa in control of our movie night. I was impressed he knew how to work all that. I wouldn't have a clue...but I guess it's a generational thing. It was really fun to watch their old videos. I'm not gonna lie, I thought it would be boring (no sound, seriously?) but it was neat. We watched 1958ish-1960. Not sure when we're planning to watch the footage from the next 50 years...we'll let you know.


Grandmama's hip new glasses. She's so chic. I told her that probably 85% of the pictures I have of her are taken when she's in this chair...but it's her chair...and I like it.

Yep, don't you worry, we keep ourselves entertained around here.

We dyed 7 eggs. (Dude, blowing the eggs was hard work. I thought I was going to pop a vein in my head! We were going to do 12 but lost interest after 7. Please volunteer to help our kids dye eggs some day.)

I hid the eggs for Matt then he hid them for me. And it was so fun we each took one more turn hiding them for each other. Sounds loserish...but it was FUN! He's a tricky one!


Wow, that got long. What a great post, if I do say so myself. With the supplemental links, you could've spent hours exploring online just with this one post. I'm truly thinking of those of you who read this while killing time at work...Christy? DeAnna? Emily?! :)

MHS Cheer/Dance Combo

Now this one's worth watching! This fun little half-time number put on by the MHS dance team and Varsity cheerleaders "wow"-ed the MHS crowd at our final regular season home game.

More to cheer about!

A few final performances to get posted...here's the video of the cheerleaders at their Winter Festival on February 9th. They really had a strong performance and brought home 7 trophies! Of course, the camera angle isn't great...but you can kinda see what's going on. My husband reminds me that in coaching, the team's performance is never as good nor ever as bad as the coach may think. I guess you can be the judge? Just keep in mind these are my girls and they've really come a long way! :)

FACSie Lady

I doubted it would ever happen...but I think it's happening...or at least I'm starting to believe that with time, it could happen. What, you say? Me...becoming a FACSie lady. Sounds alot like FOXY lady but pronounced like FAXY, but standing for Family and Consumer Sciences. There were always those in my classes...those girls born FACSie. Been making their home-made bread and mending their own clothes (for fun) for years. But I wasn't one of them. Don't think so. But after a lifetime 4-H career, 5-ish years of Family and Consumer Sciences courses, being a wife for over 2 1/2 years, and 10 weeks of student teaching...I'm seeing signs of life...FACSie life.

Examples:

**Making a cake (and frosting) from scratch for the dessert at Bible study

**Insisting on eating every meal at our place rather than taking advantage of dinners out when my family comes to town so I can try out new recipes

**Discovering I not only have heard of all the ingredients, but actually have most of them on hand when browsing through my recipe books

**Exercising not to get a "hot bod" but because I want to have a healthy heart!

**Organizing breakfast brunch when in-laws come to town so I can try out new coffee cake recipe

**Testing out new recipes and baking more is actually FUN

**Last but not least, washing tons of dishes while baking and cooking at home...but not really noticing because I wash so many dishes at school!

Am I lacking in some areas? SURE! I'm desperately in need of about 2 weeks of Grandmama's Sewing School this summer...but just these brief signs of FACSie desire and know-how are reassuring to me that I can do it! I can succeed in the FACS world! :)
