We've had our best summer yet, but it is that time. Time to be thankful for our vacations, time with family and friends, outings around KC, and even the lazy rainy days filled with pjs and Price is Right.
Each summer looks different as the kids grow and change. I always love to look back and reminisce about our sweet summers together. So while I've thrown pics into this post for the past two months, making it far too long, it is nonetheless a summary of summer 2015!
Zoo trip with cousins over a weekend in May just before school was out.
A little wedding fun.
Cousin time in the Bend.
We began our Park Tour, attempting to play at every community and neighborhood park in Olathe. We are extending it through the fall, but we're over half way!
We participated in a "cooking class" with friends where the kids each brought a recipe to teach to each other. It was an afternoon of homemade butter & jam, taco puffs, fruit pizza, and root beer floats. Such a fun idea!
Random playing just before we moved.
We packed up and moved to a new home the first weekend in June. Good-bye Blake Street! We will miss you!
One week after moving, we headed to Carillon Beach for Sauder Family Vacation.
We enjoyed going to Deanna Rose with some MOPS friends in late June. Hard to believe this is actually the only trip we've made over to the farmstead this summer!
The first week of July Cade participated in Trilogy Cultural Arts Jedi Stunt Training Camp. He LOVED it and can't wait to go back next year!
We took in a Royals game and enjoyed celebrating the July 4th weekend with the Keeley side in Blue Springs.
The kids took swim lessons through Olathe Parks and Rec for two weeks in July. There were a couple of really cold days during the session but the kids did great! They've really taken off in their swimming this summer. Reese can get around well with her puddle jumper float and Cade can swim around on his own in water up to around 4 feet deep very confidently (no thanks to the lessons but that's my fault for putting them in too low of a level). It has been a fun summer of swimming!
We visited Matt at basketball camp several times for picnics, basketball, and to ride the elevator, of course.
We celebrated my 32nd birthday and I even added to our birthday paraphernalia with a blow up cake from the new At Home store. Who could pass up a clearance blow-up birthday cake on their actual birthday?
Reesie made a habit of climbing in our bed in the early mornings. Which is cute during the summer. And strictly forbidden during the school year.
We've enjoyed our Healthridge membership again this summer and had a blast swimming, Zumba-ing and even some pool-side dancing.
The kids spent a few days in GB without Matt and I so we enjoyed a few nights out on the town before our little family was reunited.
We saw two movies, Inside Out and the Minion movie. I loved Inside Out and took one for the team with the minion movie.
Dental check-ups!
Cade's two front teeth on the bottom are loose but he refuses to mess with them as he's terrified of them falling out. So...we'll see how that pans out.
We took in Paradise Park with the cousins and the storyland exhibit at Crown Center with friends to finish off the summer.
Game time with Peggy and Gentry. The kids try to convince everyone to play Minion Trouble.
We celebrated our 10 year anniversary with an evening out to see Jim Gaffigan at Starlight Theater.
We spent plenty of time scootering, biking and sidewalk chalking.
A sweet moment with Papa during one of their visits to KC.
Time is passing so quickly, in the blink of an eye it will be time for the holidays, Spring Break, and then summer again. I'm so grateful to get to spend summers with my kids but also that I have a rewarding and enjoyable job that I'm always excited to return to when summer comes to a close. It's been a stupendous summer--but a couple snow days this year still wouldn't hurt.
